Meet Jacinta.
YOU COULD SAY I'M A REPURPOSED JOURNALIST
I worked in news for 15 years. I loved meeting people I’d otherwise never get the chance to meet, to see them in their homes, their work and be curious about who they were. I loved connecting with people and asking them questions, sometimes tough questions. I loved sharing that information through newspapers and television. It was exciting and important work. But in that adrenaline-based, deadline-driven environment, I burnt out. And I didn’t even realize it. I remember telling a friend I felt like everything in my life drew from the same well and it had dried up.
The result - I felt like I was doing everything in my life poorly.
I decided to become a full-time Mom. It was not an easy transition. My mother was a single working mother and raised my brother and I. How could I not juggle my life better? You better believe there was A LOT of self-judgment.
I believe Motherhood is the most important job of our lives, but it’s not the whole picture. It can’t be. To be the best mother, wife, friend, daughter, employee, boss … you have to fill yourself up.
